Campanile yearbook places fifth in ACP Best of Show

The 2013 edition of the Rice University Campanile yearbook finished fifth in the Associated Collegiate Press’s Best of Show contest at the ACP/CMA National College Media Convention held in New Orleans, Oct. 23-27, 2013.

The Best of Show competition was held on site at the national convention. The number of entries and places awarded may change from year to year, usually corresponding with overall attendance. Only publications and broadcast teams with students in attendance at the convention are eligible to enter the contest.

The book, bearing a rare wooden cover, features 384 full-color pages, and is the first time the Campanile presented content chronologically. The staff spent the year improving coverage, writing and photography, while aiming to tell the story of the year in a more cohesive format.

The nationally-recognized book was co-edited by Beth Herlin, Lovett ’13 and Shaan Patel, McMurtry ’14. The 2013 design editor was Anastasia Bolshakov, Duncan ’14; managing editor was Naomi Fa-Kaji, Wiess ’14 and office manager duties were split between Sara Nowak, Lovett ’13 and Elodie Graham, Baker ’16.

The book placed among some of the most well-respected collegiate yearbooks in the country.
